Learn about financial help during an unplanned pregnancy
When you find yourself pregnant and are unsure about your next steps, it’s common to have worries about the financial impact of pregnancy on your life. Is it possible to get financial help during an unplanned pregnancy? The answer is yes. The Florida adoption professionals at Legacy Adoption Services® are happy to help you determine your eligibility for financial aid for pregnant women that may be available to you under Florida state law, should you choose to make an adoption plan.
What financial aid for pregnant women is available under state law in Florida?
The state of Florida allows mothers who make an adoption plan with an adoption agency to receive financial assistance for certain living expenses. The goal of this support is to ensure that you have the resources you need to stay safe and healthy during pregnancy.
- Housing. If you need help with rent during your pregnancy, your options counselor will talk with you about your living situation and explain what assistance may be available as part of your adoption plan.
- Utilities. You may also qualify for help with bills such as electricity, water, gas, basic phone or internet. We’ll talk through your needs and explain which expenses can be covered.
- Transportation. To ensure that you are able to attend all of your prenatal and postpartum OBGYN appointments and other medical visits, you may be eligible to be reimbursed for the cost of transportation to and from these appointments.
- Groceries. Financial support for eligible women may also include the cost of groceries to ensure that you have the nutrition you need to sustain a healthy pregnancy.
All of these financial support options are in addition to the many services provided at no cost to you through our Florida adoption agency. These services include ongoing counseling, legal support and complete coverage of all medical expenses associated with pregnancy and birth.
