How a Last-Minute Adoption Works

Last-minute adoption can ensure an abundant future for your child

If you’re far along in your pregnancy or have already given birth, but you’re still not sure you’re ready or able to be a parent, don’t feel guilty. Many women find themselves in this situation, and it’s important to remember that you always have options. Last-minute adoption can open the door to a wonderful future for both you and your baby. We specialize in Florida adoptions and are here to help you, whether you want to make a late pregnancy adoption plan or find loving parents to raise a baby whom you have already welcomed into the world.

What is a last-minute adoption?

A last-minute adoption can happen in several different situations.

  • Late pregnancy adoption plans. Many women only discover they are pregnant several months into the pregnancy, while others spend much of their pregnancy undecided about what they should do once the baby is born.
  • Hospital adoptions. In some cases, the reality of raising a child doesn’t hit home until the baby is placed into the mother’s arms at the hospital. Some women are still in the hospital recovering from birth when they must confront the fact that their baby is at risk of being removed by DCF.
  • After the baby is at home. For some people, the realities of parenthood don’t truly set in until they bring the baby home. Though they love their babies very much, only at home do they fully understand the responsibilities, stress and financial strain that come with raising a newborn.

In all of these situations, last-minute adoption can be quickly arranged, with the baby’s mother in complete control of all the important decisions. Our experienced counselors can help new mothers choose their baby’s adoptive parents and create an adoption plan that ensures their needs and preferences are met, and that their baby goes into a safe, loving home and a bright future.

With modern adoption, mothers can even choose what level of contact they’d like to have with the adoptive family and the child going forward. This can help mothers come to peace with their decision to make a late pregnancy adoption plan or choose adoption after the baby is born.
