When picking a family for your baby, you should give some thought to what factors are most important to you. For example, some people may feel strongly that their child should be raised in a certain culture or religious tradition. Some would prefer to see their child raised by a couple with at least one stay-at-home parent, while others appreciate the financial security that a double income may provide. A couple’s education level may be important to you, and you may want to know about their parenting philosophy, hobbies, interests and values.

• What types of opportunities could this family provide for your child, such as sports, camps, private schools or travel?
